Burnham-On-Sea among five UK’s most ‘coach-friendly’ destinations

Burnham-On-Sea was named this week as one of the UK’s top five ‘most coach-friendly’ travel destinations at a national awards ceremony.

The city was a finalist for the award at the British Coach Tourism Awards 2020/21, which took place on Wednesday evening (September 22) in Birmingham.

Burnham-On-Sea was a finalist for the title of UK’s ‘Most Coach Friendly Destination’, which was won by Wells. The finalists were Burnham, Bournemouth, Christchurch and Poole Tourism; Otley; and Southport.

Over 400 tourism representatives from across the UK attended the awards ceremony at the National Motorcycle Museum, which was overseen by Strictly Come Dancing champion Chris Hollins.

Burnham was represented by Councilor Andy Brewer and members of the Burnham Chamber of Commerce.

It is part of an ongoing project, led by the Burnham-On-Sea Chamber of Commerce, to encourage coach companies to bring visitors to the city center, thereby boosting the economy.

A spokesperson told Burnham-On-Sea.com: “We are truly delighted that Burnham is one of the best coach-friendly destinations in the UK and we are delighted to have received this recognition for everyone. work carried out by the Chamber of Trades. and the supporters of this project.

“We thank the businesses, groups and local councils who continue to support the ongoing work to bring coaches to Burnham. Several new contacts were made with coach and travel companies again during this week’s awards show, which will help encourage even more coach visitors here.

The project is supported by local businesses, the city council and the Sedgemoor district council.
