Council opinion on garbage collection to help household garbage workers

The BCP Council has given advice to people to ensure that their bins will be emptied properly during the winter months.

With dark mornings upon us, the council urges residents to leave their food waste, trash cans and recycling bins in a bright, unobstructed area so that garbage workers, working in the dark, can spot them.

Additionally, people are cautioned that bins can be collected at different times, so residents are encouraged to keep their bins outside until the end of the day to make sure they don’t run out. not.

A BCP Council spokesperson said: “Your local household garbage crews are out from 5 am each morning, and by this time of day it is quite dark in the winter.

“Please support your local household garbage team by making sure your garbage can is placed in a clearly visible location before 5 a.m. on the day of your collection.

“If a trash can is hidden behind a bush or a wall, it’s harder for the team to see it on a dark morning, and it could be accidentally missed.

“It is also important to know that food waste in Bournemouth and Christchurch can be collected by a truck separate from your usual waste and recycling.

“This means your garbage or recycling can be emptied first and your food bin empties later in the day, or vice versa.

“So don’t worry if all your bins aren’t emptied at the same time on your collection day – put them aside because another team will come back later.

“Please wait after 11:00 PM on your pickup day to report a missed pickup at www.bcpcouncil.gov.uk/missedbin.”
