Haulier gives colorful heavyweight makeover to attract more visitors to Stoke-on-Trent

A transport company in Stoke-on-Trent has given a makeover to two of its trucks, in an effort to attract more visitors to the city.

Hanley-based Danny W Poole and Sons has paid for a new livery on two of his trucks showcasing some of the Potteries’ most popular tourist attractions and heritage sites.

Company vehicles will showcase attractions – including the Regent Theater, World of Wedgwood, Trentham Monkey Forest and Middleport Pottery – to new audiences as they travel through Europe, helping to promote the city internationally.

Emma Bridgewater, the Gladstone Pottery Museum, and the Mitchell Arts Center are also listed on the side of the trailers.

Phil Houlton, Director of Operations at Danny W Poole and Sons, said: “The ad we have on the Stoke-on-Trent side is two and a half meters high.

“These are fantastic trailers, which we follow all over the country and, in fact, all over Europe.

“These trailers can be expected to travel over 1,000 kilometers per week. They will be seen throughout Germany, Belgium and the Netherlands.”

The move is part of the Re-Discover Stoke-on-Trent campaign which was launched to support tourist sites in the city that have just reopened in the wake of the Covid-19 pandemic.

Stoke-on-Trent’s tourist economy attracts 5.5 million visitors a year, who spend £ 272 million and support 6,764 jobs.

Councilor Lorraine Beardmore, member of the Culture, Recreation and Public Health Cabinet at Stoke-on-Trent City Council, said: “The tourism industry has been going through a very difficult time in the past 18 months. .

“It’s fantastic to start welcoming visitors back to our wonderful attractions. And what better way to do that than to celebrate with these fantastic trailers.”
