Man fights for life after crash on the A35 Upton Bypass

A MAN is fighting for his life following an accident on a Dorset road in the early hours of this morning.

The man, in his thirties and from Wimborne, was taken to Southampton General Hospital with life-threatening injuries as a result of the single vehicle crash on the A35 Upton Bypass.

His family has been made aware.

The accident involving a blue Chevrolet Aveo, of which the man was the sole occupant, occurred near the Bakers Arms roundabout just after 4 a.m. on Saturday.

Officers were present, as were the fire and ambulance services.

Road closures were put in place when emergency services responded to the incident and a collision scene investigation was conducted.

Police are now calling for witnesses or anyone with dashcam footage to contact them.

Traffic Unit Sergeant Rhys Griffiths said: “We are investigating the circumstances of this collision and I call on all witnesses who have yet to speak to police to come forward.

“From our inquiries, we understand that the vehicle involved – which features distinctive stripes on the roof and sides – has traveled from the Wallisdown area to the Upton bypass and I look forward to hearing from all of those. who may have witnessed this vehicle or captured it on a dashcam. images, before the collision.

“Finally, I would like to thank members of the public for their patience and understanding during road closures. As always, these were absolutely necessary to allow the emergency services to intervene and for a detailed examination of the scene. ”
