Portland United v Christchurch: team news and interview

[ad_1]

PORTLAND United will treat Wessex League Premier Division Christchurch wrestlers with respect to avoid “arrogance”, insists deputy boss Sam Poole.

Christchurch, who embarked on a brilliant FA Cup run last season, has since seen ex-manager Ollie Cherrett join Shaftesbury.

His departure coincided with a rapid loss of form, with the Priory losing 9-0 to new club Cherrett in midweek and currently occupying 20th of 21 teams in the standings.

Portland has recently entered good form with a 4-2 victory over Alton, but Poole is wary of the Dorset Blues counterparts.

He told Echosport: “We’re going to treat them like we treated Alton on Saturday and every opponent we face – with respect.

“We are not going to think (tomorrow) that it will be an easy game. Quite often following a bad result which can give a boost to a team, wanting to right some wrongs.

“You have to be wary of it. Looking at us there is confidence in the camp and we want to take that into the game but we don’t want it to tip into arrogance that we can just go out there and come and pick up the three points.

“We’re at home and our home form is pretty good. We’ve played five, won three, so we’ll look to continue that way. ”

Blues forward Troy Walbridge returns and Portland has no further injury issues.

Portland Reserves visit Wareham in the Dorset Premier League tomorrow (3pm).
