A tipper van and power tools have been stolen by masked thieves from a water purification site in Bournemouth. The Wimborne Road site in Kinson was burglarized between 8pm and 9.10pm on Sunday March 6.

Entry was forced into a storage container and an office building. A number of vehicle keys were taken, as well as power tools.

A white tipper van was stolen from the site and was later found abandoned on Headswell Avenue in Bournemouth. Officers investigating a commercial burglary at a water purification site in Bournemouth release CCTV footage of the suspects.

Constable India Russell, of Bournemouth Police, said: ‘We are investigating this burglary and have obtained CCTV footage of the suspects.

Bede Homes has announced that it will build 21 five-bedroom executive homes in Beck View, Yarm, which will go on sale in early summer.

The construction will be the first time that three of Bede’s directors have been involved in a development in the area since their days at Tees Valley Regeneration, which was at one time the largest urban development agency in England and evolved into the Local Enterprise Partnership, Tees Valley Unlimited.

Bede Homes managing director Joe Docherty was managing director of TVR when it was established in 2002. Director Richard Buckley was development director at the agency which developed Middlehaven and created Teesside’s modern landmarks, the bridge Infinity in Stockton, the Temenos art installation. which is outside the Riverside Stadium in Middlesbrough and Central Park in Darlington where Darlington College is now based.

Richard recruited another Bede manager, Andrew Burnett, as project manager for Middlehaven after taking over from Joe as co-CEO in 2009.

The trio, along with fellow director Gavin Cordwell-Smith, are now set to develop the Beck View plot. The properties will likely go on sale in June, but people can register an interest through the Bede Homes website or through Yarm-based estate agents Michael Poole. Property prices will range from £525,000 to £700,000.

MD Joe Docherty said: “We are extremely excited about this development. These will be luxury executive residences and it is expected that there will be considerable interest in the properties given their location.

Bede Homes is still a young company, but we are set on our vision to be the premier independent home builder in the region.

“The previous landowners had planning permission for 35 houses, but we decided to reduce the density because we were aware of Teesside’s concerns about overdevelopment.”

Bede Homes, based in Gateshead, was set up in 2016 by Andrew and Richard, who had formed land and planning agency Buckley Burnett in 2011. They were joined by Gavin, managing director of The Hellens Group, who has worked extensively in Teesside in recent years. as well as in the North East and Yorkshire.

The number of unaccompanied refugee children cared for by Dorset Council has increased in recent weeks.

Currently, 18 children are in the care of the council, 10 of whom have been settled in the county in recent weeks. Dorset Council’s Corporate Parents Council heard the children had been taken into care by the council following government directives to try to find places.

Sarah-Jane Smedmore, Corporate Director for Care and Protection, said: “We welcomed this and really thought about how we can find the best places and spaces for these young people to live and enjoy. thrive, get an education, get support. and to get the health services they also need, so we are working with our partners to make that happen.

Committee chair Cllr Kate Wheller told the council it was too early to tell what the situation might be with the Ukrainian refugees at the moment, but she said there were “policies and processes in place”, if that happened.

Australians are urged to fill up now with petrol prices set to soar to $2.20 a litre.

CommSec chief economist Craig James said oil prices are expected to soar as the war between Russia and Ukraine continues to drive up oil prices.

According to the Australian Petroleum Institute, the national average price of unleaded petrol rose 3.3 cents per liter to a record 183.9 cents per liter in the first week of March.

Petrol prices peaked last week at 191.3 cents per liter in Melbourne, 196.9 cents in Hobart, 189.7 cents in Darwin and 188.6 cents in Canberra.

“The national average gasoline price rose 10 cents per liter after a $10 per barrel increase in crude oil in December and there was a similar increase of 10 cents in February to $1.80 per liter after that Brent crude fell from $79 a barrel to $89 a barrel in January,” he said.

“Crude Brent is now at $128 a barrel, so the Australian average pump price is on track to reach $2.10 to $2.20 a liter over the next few weeks.”

Streets across Dorset’s BH postcodes were ranked the cheapest and most expensive – with the average house price ranging from £99,000 to over £5million. Home sales company Property Solvers has a new tool that tracks the average price of homes sold from HM Land Registry data to determine the lowest and highest house prices in the area of the postal code of BH.

The data has been taken from the start of 2016 until now, and below is a list of streets in areas BH13 and BH14 to show the difference in average house prices on Millionaire’s Row compared to other areas of Poole . Four houses on Panorama Road (BH13) sold for an average price of £5.7million, while the cheapest in this area averaged £202,833.

In the BH14 area, the most expensive street was Pearce Avenue with an average price of £3.4million, and the cheapest was Station Road in Parkstone where the house sold for an average of £99,321. DorsetLive has compiled a list of the cheapest and most expensive streets in the BH13 and BH14 postcode areas along with the number of sales.

Racine’s office sued Elevate Credit, Inc. in June 2020alleging that the company deceptively marketed high-cost loans and lines of credit to more than 2,500 DC residents who were charged interest rates between 99% and 251%.

The maximum limit in DC is 6% or 24%, depending on the type of loan agreement as defined by the Consumer Protection Procedures Act.

“This settlement will put money back into the pockets of consumers in the district who have been illegally overcharged,” Racine said. said in a press release. “Consumers in the district should be wary of any lender, including so-called fintech companies, who promise easy money without any financial consequences. The truth is often buried in the fine print. Interest rates like those involved in this settlement often exceed 100% and have a devastating impact on people who need an honest and legal loan.

Under the terms of the settlement, Elevate will pay $3.4 million to reimburse DC residents who paid interest on their loans and $450,000 to the district, the attorney general’s office said.

Additionally, the company agreed to waive more than $300,000 in overdue interest owed by DC residents; remove negative credit reports related to all loans and lines of credit reported to credit bureaus; and stop charging rates above the district’s legal cap.

Elevate, which is based in Delaware, denied the allegations and denied violating DC law or engaging in any deceptive or unfair practices.

Racine’s office has made cracking down on so-called predatory lenders part of his office’s efforts to close the district’s racial wealth gap.

In November, Racine’s office announced a more than $2 million settlement with Opportunity Financial, another online lender his office said engaged in deceptive lending practices.

The cheapest places to buy property in Dorset have been revealed.

Analysis of Office for National Statistics (ONS) figures shows where homes in the county are most affordable, on average.

The general trend is for property prices to soar, especially as the coronavirus pandemic has triggered a desire to relocate to rural areas.

We’ve detailed the areas in Dorset that have seen the fastest growth in house prices here.

This list also included an overview of areas that have seen slow growth.

There is some overlap with these ten places and the list below.

But the cheapest area to buy a house in Dorset is potentially a hidden gem.

Neighborhoods in Dorset with the lowest house prices

1 – Melcombe Regis

Average house price:

  • Year to June 2020 – £155,000
  • Year to June 2021 – £176,750
  • % change – 14%

Melcombe Regis has a long history – in the 14th century it was its own port, separate from Weymouth.

The Black Death (aka The Plague) is believed to have arrived on British soil at the port in 1348.

Melcombe Regis wasn’t even connected to what was then Weymouth by a bridge until 1597.

But since the 1970s, Melcombe Regis has officially been part of Weymouth and Portland.

However, the service continues to be used by people like the ONS.

And now Melcombe Regis has a new claim to fame – the area in Dorset with the cheapest average house price, at least until June 2021.

You could have the sea, a college, a hospital and the Sea Life Center on your doorstep if you choose to buy in the area.

2 – West Boscombe

Average house price:

  • Year to June 2020 – £159,500
  • Year to June 2021 – £179,000
  • % change – 12%

Boscombe has had his fair share of bad press.

It is known by some as the “drug capital” of the south.

The government has officially recognized that this is a city in need of revitalization.

And it’s often been listed by a website as one of the ‘worst places to live’ in the UK – but not anymore.

All of this could explain why house prices are not among the highest in Dorset, despite the presence of beaches and proximity to Bournemouth.

Putting it in a positive spin, it means the area is ripe for bargain hunters.

3- Portland

Average house price:

  • Year to June 2020 – £187,000
  • Year to June 2021 – £197,000
  • % change – 5%

Portland is a place of extremes.

An island connected to Weymouth by a causeway, it is as coastal as life in Dorset is.

Sea views often mean expensive property, but Portland has its pros and cons.

On the pro side – wildlife, outdoor space galore, lots of wildlife and amazing history.

The place has a spy ring named after it, following the discovery of an operation by the Soviet Union to spy on the former military base and pass secrets to Moscow.

Portland stone has also been used in grand buildings across Britain and the rest of the world – it played a crucial role in the rebuilding of London after the Great Fire of 1666.

However, when looking to buy a home, practicality tends to trump an impressive past.

Portland can be a remote place, with harsh conditions.

There’s also a prison, which can be off-putting – although an island is a great place for one person.

4 – East Cliff and Springbourne

Average house price:

  • Year to June 2020 – £196,500
  • Year to June 2021 – £218,000
  • % change – 11%

Historically, Springbourne was in Hampshire.

Not far from Boscombe, it may suffer from some image problems.

But it’s also a booming place, with easy transport links to Bournemouth and a growing number of family homes.

5-Westham

Average house price:

  • Year to June 2020 – £215,000
  • Year to June 2021 – £220,000
  • % change – 2%

Back in the Weymouth area, Westham offers good value for money, as well as being close to the town centre.

It is perhaps a bad omen that a Google search of the neighborhood brings up stories of thugs making life hell for the residents.

But it must be said that the cover dates from 2009.

So be prepared to give Westham a chance.

6 – Bournemouth Center

Average house price:

  • Year to June 2020 – £176,666
  • Year to June 2021 – £222,000
  • % change – 26%

Unsurprisingly, Bournemouth Central features on our list of areas with the fastest growing property prices.

The heart of Dorset’s largest and busiest town offers employment opportunities, shops, restaurants and all important beach access.

Nevertheless, there are bargains to be had. Some people still prefer to live in more affluent suburbs.

Be prepared to accept an investment property, perhaps in need of renovation, to get full value in this area.

– 7 Blandfords

Average house price:

  • Year to June 2020 – £223,000
  • Year to June 2021 – £238,000
  • % change – 7%

Blandford has a charming Market Square, with its Georgian architecture giving the town center a quaint look.

The city was rebuilt after a devastating fire hundreds of years ago, which explains its pleasant uniform style in places.

For many years Blandford Camp was vital to the town, with employment and social life often linked to the armed forces.

The military base is still there but less integral to the lives of many residents.

Assets these days include many supermarkets, spanning the spectrum – from discount retailers like Lidl, to mainstream retail giants Tesco and Morrisons, and high-end food M&S.

When it comes to property, the place has it all – from huge mansions, perfect for the elite who send their children to famous private schools nearby, to housing estates and retirement apartments.

The location might suit you if you have to travel to Bournemouth or Poole for work, but still have access to rural Dorset to the north.

8 – Rodwell and Wyke

Average house price:

  • Year to June 2020 – £227,500
  • Year to June 2021 – £245,000
  • % change – 8%

There’s a theme to this list so far – if you want a bargain in Dorset, consider Weymouth.

The Rodwell and Wyke area is practically a stone’s throw from the famous and beautiful Chesil Beach.

It even includes caravans and holiday parks.

But like others on this list, it also has its challenges – with necessary developments and investments.

9 – Sturminster Newton

Average house price:

  • Year to June 2020 – £245,000
  • Year to June 2021 – £247,000
  • % change – 1%

Sturminster Newton – known as ‘Stur’ to locals – sits in the heart of Thomas Hardy country.

It used to be two places – Sturminster is the main town, but across the town’s iconic bridge over the River Stour you’ll find Newton, by the mill – perhaps the town’s most notable feature.

It was also once home to one of the largest cattle markets in the UK, which attracted industry and commerce to the town.

Today, the Bourse stands on the site of the old market, a multi-purpose community venue that has earned a reputation in recent years for attracting big names from the entertainment world.

Some locals sometimes lament the lack of amenities and shops but there are plenty of countryside walks and a few independent shops worth exploring.

Expect the classic Dorset variety in the property market – thatched-roof beauties near the church, scattered retirement flats, housing estates and grand country residences on the outskirts.

10 – Westbourne and West Cliff

Average house price:

  • Year to June 2020 – £220,000
  • Year to June 2021 – £255,000
  • % change – 16%

Finally, we have Westbourne and West Cliff.

Readers might be surprised to find it on this list, as parts of the neighborhood include hotels for nearby Bournemouth town centre.

Westbourne also has Chez Fred – a fish and chip shop with a local reputation.

It is possible that the large number of apartments in the area has lowered the average price. Unlike most of Dorset, flats probably outnumber houses here.

A Metropolitan Police officer has recalled the ‘horrifying’ moment an older male colleague allegedly grabbed her face and kissed her.

Sergeant George Panayi, who is part of the Eastern Area Command Unit, is accused of kissing and pinching the female officer’s cheek – without her consent – while on duty.

He is also accused of having opened the bathroom door knowing that the policewoman was inside.

During a police misconduct hearing on Monday, the policewoman said she was sitting in the driver’s seat of a police van on December 21, 2019 when Sergeant Panayi approached and asked to see the diary of edge.

She said he showed her pictures of women on his phone and said, “I’m dating them because you’re not available.”

After that, she said he grabbed her face “in a headlock” with both hands and kissed her on the cheek.

She said he grabbed her in such a way that she “couldn’t move”.

The officer was questioned by Julian Walters, lawyer for the Met: “Have you consented to this?”

She replied, “Absolutely not.

The woman said she and another officer in the van “looked at each other in shock.”

She said it was “offensive, demeaning, horrifying”, adding: “I was shocked. I didn’t know how to react.

The officer said she was “like a fish out of water” and didn’t know what to do.

“It was unwanted. It was offensive,” she said.

The woman told the hearing that on February 3, 2020, Sergeant Panayi also pinched her cheek while restraining a mental health patient attempting to self-harm.

She said it was “completely unprofessional”.

She added: “He didn’t do it to my other colleague. He did it to me. »

The woman told the hearing about the third allegation, which allegedly took place on February 9, 2020, in which she says Sgt Panayi opened the door to the women’s restroom after she entered and before she left. had the chance to lock it.

“He just laughed at me and left,” she said.

The officer said she reported the incidents because they weren’t timely.

“It became a model. My fear was that other things were going to happen,” she said.

When asked if she believed there was a sexual motivation behind the alleged incidents, she replied, “I believe so, yes.”

The officer said there had been a “stigma” after making the allegations, adding that some officers were supportive while others were not.

It is alleged that Sgt Panayi breached professional behavior standards of authority, respect and courtesy.

It is further alleged that his conduct, if proven, amounts to gross misconduct and is so serious that it would warrant his dismissal.

Mr Walters said it was ‘expressly stated’ that police should show courtesy and respect to the public and their colleagues.

He said the allegations against Sgt Panayi involve actions, not words, adding that they are “deliberate” acts intended to “interfere with the physical integrity” of the female officer.

“We say these acts are, objectively measured by current standards, disrespectful and discourteous,” Walters said.

He said it is “obviously obvious” that when an “unsolicited and uninvited kiss” is placed on a colleague’s cheek, it is by its very nature disrespectful and discourteous.

He said the difference in rank amplified the lack of courtesy, saying the officer ‘could not respond in kind’ and had been the victim of an ‘abuse of power’.

Rightmove announced its five most viewed properties in Dorset last month, and most are in the millions – but not all.

While some people enjoy looking at pictures of their dream home, many of us need to focus on practical options.

In Dorset’s January 2022 list of most viewed homes, two homes cost under £600,000 and would make ideal family homes.

Here are the properties that made Rightmove’s top five list.

10-bed house, Bournemouth – £2.6million




It’s no surprise that this luxurious villa has made it into Dorset’s top five viewed properties with its swimming pool, annex potential, nine bathrooms and multiple sun terraces.

This ‘gentleman’s residence’ is almost 6,000 square feet and has 0.8 acres of land, yet is only half a mile from Bournemouth train station.

Indeed, at £2.6million it’s unlikely to be in most viewers’ budgets – but that doesn’t stop us from wanting to take a look anyway.

4 Bedroom House, Bournemouth – £475,000




In a much closer to average budget is this four bedroom house in Redhill, Bournemouth.

It sits in several school catchments and has a cloakroom, utility room and kitchen diner which would make an excellent family home.

However, its decoration and giant glass panels at the back of the house still make it modern and open.

4 bedroom house, Sandbanks – £5.5m




This luxurious Sandbanks home has previously featured on Dorset Live, as it featured in Rightmove’s top 10 most viewed properties nationwide.

However, it seems that even if people aren’t buying, many are interested in taking a look.

This house is priced at £5.5m but for that you get near instant access to Poole Harbour, sea views, multiple lounges, home gym , a swimming pool and a terrace on the roof.

Another luxury home seen by many is this 6,000 square foot home set in an acre of land.

The garage has space for three cars, each bedroom has its own bathroom, and it even has its own ‘leisure complex’ room with an indoor pool, wood stove and sunken seating area.

Its location in Branksome Park is also a plus, with its close ties to the beach and its leafy, woodsy feel.
