New faces are occupying a few key positions in the city.

Two new managers have been hired to head the economic development and tourism department.

John Perrott is the new Director of Economic Development and Tourism effective May 31.

The position was previously held by Kevin Poole, who assumes the role of Director of Community Safety, Lands and Administration by the end of the month.

Perrott has been Director of Economic Development and Tourism for West Kelowna since 2010. Previously, he was Director of Marketing and Executive Director of the Downtown Kelowna Association.

He has also served on the Business Improvement Area Association of BC as Director and Vice President and has been an active member of the Board of Directors of the BC Economic Development Association since 2016.

In addition, Torrie Silinsiorn is the new Director of Tourism, effective immediately.

She has been the tourism coordinator for Vernon since 2018.

Previously, Silinsiorn worked in the marketing department for Predator Ridge Resort and Turtle Mountain Communities, as well as running his own marketing company, Tor Media.

His marketing company has provided marketing and communications services to many local organizations, including the Grand Vernon Chamber of Commerce and the Downtown Vernon Association.

“Both of these portfolios provide essential services to help market, celebrate and grow our local and regional economy, and I have no doubts that they will serve our community well,” said Will Pearce, Executive Director of Vernon.
