A WOMAN in her 20s was sexually assaulted near a roundabout in Dorset, sparking a police investigation.

Dorset Police Major Crime Investigation Team (MCIT) is investigating after a woman was sexually assaulted near Springbourne Roundabout, Bournemouth, between 11:30 p.m. on Saturday 2 October and 1 a.m. morning on Sunday October 3.

Officers conducted a detailed search of the area on Tuesday, October 5 as part of the ongoing investigation.

MCIT Chief Detective Inspector Jez Noyce said: “We are doing everything possible to support the victim during this difficult time and we are still working to establish all the circumstances of the incident.

“As part of our investigation, I would like to hear from anyone who may have dashcam footage covering the Springbourne Roundabout area, Holdenhurst Road, Richmond Park Road or the A338 slip roads between 11:30 pm on Saturday October 2nd . and 1 a.m. on Sunday October 3.

“Any footage can be uploaded directly to the UK Police Major Incident Public Portal which has been set up for this incident.

“I would also like to hear from anyone who has witnessed suspicious activity in the area.”

Neighborhood Inspector Helen Deakin of Bournemouth Police said: ‘We understand that reports of this nature can be of concern to the whole community.

“I want to reassure members of the public that this matter is now under a detailed investigation and that there will be an increased police presence in the region as these investigations continue.

“Agents can be approached by members of the community for any information or concerns. ”
