Millions of New South Wales residents are just weeks away from receiving four $ 25 vouchers to spend at hospitality, cultural institutions and other businesses in a bid to reinvigorate the economy after COVID-19 lockdowns.

As part of the recovery program, Dinner and discover, each resident aged 18 and over will be entitled to spend vouchers at participating businesses.

The pilot will begin in Sydney, The Rocks and Broken Hill in early February, followed closely by the Northern Beaches, Sydney CBD and the Bega Valley Shire Council at the end of February.

The results will then inform the statewide deployment which is expected to begin in March and continue through June 30.

Residents have been urged to download the NSW Service app in preparation for deployment.

The four vouchers will be divided into two categories:

  • Two $ 25 vouchers to be used to eat at restaurants, cafes, bars, pubs and clubs Monday through Thursday
  • Two $ 25 vouchers to use for entertainment and recreation, including cultural institutions, live music and arts venues, available seven days a week

Vouchers – which cannot be used on public holidays – will be delivered via Service NSW.

They can also only be used in companies that have implemented a COVID security plan and are registered as COVID Safe.

Treasurer Dominic Perrottet said he hopes the program “will invigorate local economies and provide clients with hip pocket relief.”

The $ 500 million program was the centerpiece of the state government’s November budget.

Registration open

Local businesses can now register to join the program ahead of the pilot and wider deployment.

Customer Service Minister Victor Dominello said Service NSW will launch a specialized app for participating businesses to scan and track voucher usage under the program, through their MyServiceNSW company profile.

“All eligible businesses will receive an email from Service NSW with details on how to register.”
