Boys threatened in Poole knife theft

TWO school children were threatened with a knife during a robbery in broad daylight.

Two boys from Bournemouth have been arrested for theft and are assisting officers in their investigations.

Households in the Oakdale residential area where the incident occurred were asked to check their home video surveillance systems for any footage that could be of interest to detectives.

Dorset Police were called at 3.38 p.m. on Tuesday 15 June to report that two 15-year-old boys had been approached by two other men at Dale Valley Road, near the Foxholes Road intersection.

They were threatened with a knife and one of them had his cell phone stolen. Neither victim was physically injured.

A spokeswoman for Dorset Police said two boys from Bournemouth, aged 16 and 17, had been arrested on suspicion of theft and were assisting officers with their investigations.

It was alleged that a knife was recovered, the spokeswoman added.

The detectives call for witnesses.

DC Nick Whittaker, of Bournemouth CID, said: ‘This incident took place in a busy area and I would ask anyone who has witnessed the reported incident to contact Dorset Police.

“I would also ask all residents of the Dale Valley Road area, near the Foxholes Road junction, to check their home video surveillance systems and contact me if they have any footage that might aid my investigation.

“I want to reassure community members that a full investigation is underway into this incident and that officers from the local Neighborhood Police team can be approached by members of the public with concerns.”
