A TOTAL of five new cases of coronavirus have been recorded in Dorset in the last 24-hour period, the figures show.

The latest government figures show five people tested positive for Covid-19 in the county in the 24 hours leading up to 4 p.m. on Friday, May 28.

Four new cases registered within the BCP Council, bringing the total number of coronavirus cases since the start of the pandemic to 25,472.

The seven-day rolling period for BCP is 27 cases, with a case rate of 6.8 per 100,000 people.

In the Dorset Council region, a new case has been recorded which means that, since March 2020, 11,945 cases of Covid-19 have been confirmed in the area of ​​local authorities.

The number of coronavirus cases in the latest rolling seven-day period for the Dorset Council region is 19 cases, and the case rate is five per 100,000 people.

Elsewhere, the New Forest area has not seen any new cases of coronavirus recorded in the past 24 hours.

The total number of coronavirus cases since the start of the pandemic stands at 6,230.

The seven-day total for New Forest is 11, with a case rate of 6.1 per 100,000 population.

Across the UK, 4,182 new cases of the Covid-19 virus have been recorded, bringing the total number of corornavirus cases since the start of the pandemic to 4,477,705.
