A Dorset-based care home has been acquired by operator Southey Care Dorset under a deal backed by corporate property advisor Christie & Co.

Clarence House Nursing Home in Ferndown, Dorset is registered for 29 service users in the old age and dementia categories. The house has 27 bedrooms, the majority of which have a private bathroom and a day area within the property.

There is parking and a secure lawned rear garden providing outdoor space for residents.

Previously owned by Shervey Ltd, the care home is sold to allow the former owner to focus on other businesses in his portfolio.

Director David Henson said: “After purchasing Clarence House via Charles from Christie & Co in 2010 when we decided to sell, we immediately approached him to see if a confidential marketing process could be undertaken so as not to affect the business or residents. We are delighted to have accepted and closed a sale to Southey Care Dorset Ltd and believe that with their contacts and local knowledge they will do extremely well at Clarence House. “

A spokesperson for Southey Care Dorset added: “This is an ideal purchase for our business as our existing care home is nearby and the two homes will complement each other well. We look forward to working with the staff, residents and their families and hope we build on the house’s good reputation in the area. “

Charles Phillips, director at Christie & Co, handled the sale.
