The final touch is being given to the highly anticipated new Burger King branch in Weymouth ahead of its opening this week.

As previously reported, Burger King has confirmed plans to open a new restaurant after posting job postings online, including roles as a crew member, team leader, and a site manager.

The fast food giant will be opening a new restaurant in a retail unit with Sbarro Pizzeria across from Aldi in Link Park, Chickerell.

The project to transform the unit into a new fast food outlet is now almost complete, with a number of on-site workers setting up the place.

Customers will be able to enter the agency and order their meal on its interactive touch screen and collect their food at the til.

A delivery hatch was also installed on the side of the unit to allow staff to place orders to workers at Just Eat and Deliveroo.

The new restaurant was originally scheduled to open in Link Park on Monday, May 3, but was delayed until Wednesday, May 26.

A Burger King spokeswoman said: “The restaurant’s opening has been delayed and is now scheduled to open on Wednesday May 26th.”

The new restaurant in Link Park will create approximately 15 to 20 full-time and part-time positions.

The announcement of a new Burger King restaurant has sparked enthusiasm among residents, with many calling it “great news for the city” which will create jobs in the area.

Describing itself as the second largest burger chain in the world, Burger King is known for its flame-grilled burgers, famous Whopper burgers, chili bites, fries and hot drinks to eat in or take out.

The opening of the new restaurant is part of Burger King’s expansion into Dorset, bringing the total number of branches in the county to five. The fast food chain currently has branches in Broadstone, Poole and Bournemouth.

Sbarro, an American pizzeria chain specializing in New York-style pizza and other Italian-American fare, will also be opening alongside Burger.

The Sbarro signage on the unit has already been installed with 30 to 35 jobs to be created in the area. The new branch will open in June.
