APPLICATIONS are now open for a new fund for charitable and community projects that protect or enhance the environment.

Wessex Water, in partnership with the Dorset Community Foundation, provides grants of up to £ 1,500 to projects involving Dorset communities in environmental activities that benefit the region, have a positive impact on the local environment or educate local people. communities on the importance of supporting it.

Priority will be given to groups working to save water, reduce the use of single-use plastics, reduce waste or improve local biodiversity.

Kirsty Scarlett, Community Engagement Manager at Wessex Water, said: “The grants will also go to organizations where a small amount of money can make a significant difference.

“Eligible groups are those with charitable purposes, registered charities and community benefit corporations with an annual income of less than £ 500,000. Schools and parish councils can apply if they can demonstrate the benefits of the community for their project. ”
