Empathy Day Live! returns for its fifth year today with a free digital program of events featuring some of the UK’s leading authors and illustrators including Michael Rosen, Cressida Cowell, Malorie Blackman, Michael Morpurgo, Patrice Lawrence, David Baddiel, Jacqueline Wilson and Holly Bourne.

The day helps young people learn more about empathy, using books to help them experience its transformative power.

At the heart of this year’s program is a new call for families to take their own empathetic walks led by authors and illustrators, including Joseph Coelho and Jane Porter.

In the evening, there will also be a cutting-edge conversation for adults which will see authors Catherine Johnson, Michael Rosen and David Baddiel talk to Professor Dr Robin Banerjee about the role of empathy in society and the use of books. to nurture the empathy of young people. skills.
